KUCHING: The Ministry of Health (MoH) has announced the end of the Covid-19 church conference cluster in Kuching, one of the earliest clusters detected at the beginning of the outbreak in Malaysia.

In a statement yesterday, Health director-general, Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah congratulated the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) and all personnel who had contributed their respective services in all activities relating to this cluster.

The church conference cluster was first detected on March 15.

“As of June 23, a total of 2,751 individuals has been screened and 191 cases were found to be Covid-19 positive.

“Twelve cases were treated in intensive care units (ICU) and there were three deaths in this cluster – Death #2 (Case #358), Death #37 (Case #2,471), and Death #67 (Case #2,864),” he said.

He added that the church conference cluster had involved five generations from various areas in Sarawak.

“Now, this cluster has come to an end,” said Dr Noor Hisham.
