KUCHING: Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kuching, Archbishop Simon Poh and Bishop of the Anglican Church in Sarawak and Brunei, Datuk Danald Jute have received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine during the second phase of the Covid-19 Immunisation Programme at Stadium Perpaduan last Friday (April 23).

They joined others who are eligible to be administered the vaccine such as the elderly, people with comorbidities and those with chronic illnesses.

Poh said that he had registered for the vaccination in February and received the appointment for the first dose on April 23.

“I arrived earlier and waited in line to get to the registration counters as there were many people there. Overall, it was a smooth process.

“I also want to give my respect to the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela), the admission, ushering teams and medical personnel who were on hand to assist everyone present. Thank you for your gentleness and friendliness that I have experienced on my vaccination day,” he said.

Later, he said he had also met with Danald who was also there for the vaccination.

“After the jab, I was able to work comfortably over the weekend save for a little soreness which did not impede me.

“On the whole, drinking plenty of fluids and being attentive to my body are good ways to monitor and help ensure a healthier lifestyle in this pandemic,” said Poh.

Meanwhile, Danald in a Facebook post said that he did not feel any pain when receiving the vaccine.

“It’s more painful being bitten by an ant… All went well. A big thank you to all doctors, nurses and support staff for a job well done,” he said.

He also urged those who have yet to register to do and there is no cause for alarm or worry.

“For those who have registered and are still waiting, they are urged to be patient as they will have their turn soon,” he said.

Those that have yet to register for the vaccination can do so by registering at the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV) website (www.vaksincovid.gov.my), via the MySejahtera application or register at their nearest District Offices or Resident Offices.
