Churches, cemetery committee receive funds

KUCHING: Two churches and a cemetery committee in Dalat district received grants amounting to RM105,000 from the state government.

The recipients are St Bernard’s Church, St Peter’s Chapel and Kampung Balan Liko/Christian Cemetery Committee.

Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, who is also Dalat assemblywoman, received the cheques on behalf of the recipients from Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas at his office in Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today (July 21).

A total of RM70,000 was given to St Bernard’s Church and it is used to bury the sand at the Christian cemetery site in Sungai Sisut, Dalat.

St Peter’s Chapel in Kampung Medong received RM15,000 for the reconstruction of its floor and other facilities, while RM20,000 was given to the Liko/Christian Cemetery Committee to build a public shelter at the cemetery.
