SIMANGGANG: Circumcision gains acceptance among non-Muslims due to health benefits.

Batang Lupar assemblyman Mohamad Shafizan Kepli said that circumcision is considered obligatory worship for Muslims, serving both to adhere to Islamic teachings and to promote health.

“Circumcision helps in cleansing a person from various impurities, which are primary sources of disease transmission.

“The increasing awareness about hygiene and health is leading more people from the non-Muslim community to adopt circumcision,” he said during the Perdana Khatan Programme (Sunaton) 2024 for the Lingga Zone, Sri Aman Division at the Bandar Sri Aman Mosque recently.

Shafizan praised the initiative led by Lingga assemblywoman Dayang Noorazah Awang Sohor and contributors for fostering understanding of circumcision’s importance among children and alleviating the financial burden on parents due to the procedure’s cost.

Dayang Noorazah said that the programme welcomed 150 children from diverse racial backgrounds in the Lingga constituency and surrounding areas of Sri Aman.

Also present were Datuk Bujang Helmi Hazmi, Special Officer to the Premier, Shariff Bujang, the Sri Aman District Officer, and Azmi Morshidi, the Sri Aman Divisional Resident representative.
