Citrawarna Keluarga Malaysia 2022: Good response from public

KUCHING: The launch of the Citrawarna Keluarga Malaysia 2022 celebration yesterday received enthusiastic response from the public.  

The event themed ‘Cultural Diversity Festival’ highlights various uniqueness in the activities held from Feb 24 to 27 at the Kuching Waterfront.

The Sarawak Drum Festival, Sarawak Craft Festival, Malaysian Textile Craft Fashion Show, a gastronomy exhibition, treasure hunt, sape concert, fireworks display, and a musical water fountain are among the activities planned to liven up the event.

The event, which runs from 10 am to 6 pm daily, is expected to benefit the public by showcasing talents, handicrafts and other activities.

There are also information booths by Tourism Malaysia, Sarawak Tourism Board and other tourism organisations from different states to provide tourism information to the visitors.

The chief executive officer (CEO) of Tourism Selangor said Citrawarna Keluarga Malaysia 2022 was a platform to boost the tourism and economic sectors.

“This initiative is very much awaited from the industry players.

“The pandemic hit the tourism sector very hard that we are the last to recover.

“It is hoped that this programme will be a benchmark for the execution of future events by the government under the new normal with strict SOPs,” he added.

Meanwhile, at the Sarawak Drum Festival, visitors enjoyed the Malay drum competition and performance, a traditional Malay chanting competition, a costume contest as well as a singing competition.

There is also mouth-watering food from all over Malaysia as well as a food fusion demonstration booth to attract visitors at the gastronomy exhibition.  

Other than cultural performance set to take place at floating stage, members of public can enjoy Colours of Malaysia performances which consist of dancing performance, busking, drum routine and multiracial music show at Padang Merdeka.

A tight set of standard operating procedures (SOPs) has been established including a limit on the number of visitors who can be present in the information booth canopy, with law enforcement personnel stationed to verify that the limit on the number of guests in the tents is adhered to.

Meanwhile, the opening ceremony of Citrawarna Keluarga Malaysia will be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on February 26 at 8 pm. It will also attended by Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.
