MIRI: The City Council (MCC) is transitioning to digital assessment bill delivery.
According to Miri mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang, the move is in line with the Smart City status and the City Council is sending the assessment rates bills via email.
“There will be no sending out of physical assessment bills to ratepayers with effect 2024 onwards. It is advisable for the ratepayers to update their email address and contact number to the Council. This is to ensure all assessment rates, notices and letters reach the ratepayers,” he said.
Yii disclosed this during a full meeting of the MCC here on Wednesday,
However, for ratepayers who do not have an email address, he said payment can be made at Service Sarawak Counter at MCC Urban Transformation Centre (UTC).
The ratepayers can subscribe to receive their assessment bills and make payment online via S Pay Global apps, Service Sarawak website and apps, and Pay Bills Malaysia website.
“The payment methods are at your fingertips to avoid inconveniences of queuing at the counter,” Yii said.
The due date to pay the assessment rates is May 31 and October 31 every year for the first half and second half accordingly.
“We would like to urge ratepayers to pay the assessment rates before the due date to avoid penalty and legal action,” he added.
