MIRI: A house in Kampung China at Jalan Lutong here caught fire around 9.25am this morning (April 14).

The house belongs to the local Women’s Wing and Education Bureau chief of Party Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), Misiah Abdullah.

Zone 6 fire chief Supt Law Poh Kiong said firefighters from Miri central fire station were deployed to place.

He also reported that 60 percent of the single-storey house — the kitchen and living room — went up in flames.

Misiah, who is a city councilor, and her two teenage children were in the house when the fire broke out. None of them were injured as they managed to run away before the fire got too big.

The firemen took about 20 minutes to put out the blaze.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred are now under investigation.
