KUCHING: It was a close shave for a traffic policeman when a car rammed the rear of a police vehicle yesterday morning.

The incident took place at around 9.00am near the Kenyalang Interchange flyover while the policeman was setting up a speed trap camera at the road divider when a Perodua Viva car rammed the rear of his vehicle.

It was said that the traffic police were frequently seen setting up a speed trap camera in the area to catch speeding motorists.

The collision between the two vehicles near the flyover yesterday has sparked a debate among members of the public on which party was in the wrong.

Meanwhile in a separate incident, a sexagenarian was detained by police for allegedly raping a 9-year-old girl last Saturday night.

The 67-year-old man was picked up from his house in Kampung Semariang Lama in Petra Jaya by police on Monday.

It was believed that the suspect had raped the victim at his own house last Saturday.
