Club gets RM10,000 in grant

SIBU: Assistant Minister for Science Research and Biotechnology, Dr Annuar Rapaee here announced an allocation of RM10,000 for the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) Sports and Social Club.

Dr Annuar, who is also Nangka Assemblyman made the announcement during SMC Sports and Social Club dinner held in conjunction of its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Tanahmas Hotel here last Sunday.

He added that the club is very important because it is one of the channels for the staff members to interact with each other.

According to Dr Annuar, SMC plays an important role, especially in restoring the people’s confidence of the town.

“With more than 600 staff members, the people of Sibu should give their full cooperation to SMC,” he said.

During the function, 24 students who are children of the club members, who excelled in their UPSR, PT3, SPM and STPM examinations, also received incentives from the club.

Apart from that, 17 senior retirees who are 70 years old and above, each received a gift from the club. Sibu Resident Hii Chang Kee and SMC deputy chairperson Rogayah Jemain were among those present at the function.
