KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg attended a taped interview session for the Ghazpirasi programme by TVS on Wednesday.
The programme will broadcast a special episode in conjunction with Sarawak Day on July 22 next month. The filming was done at a leading hotel here against the backdrop of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building.
Abang Johari, who has witnessed the history of Sarawak’s independence first hand, has his own recollection of the journey, starting from the handing over of power from the British colony to the first Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Stephen Kalong Ningkan on July 22, 1963.
Aged 13 in 1963 and as the son of Sarawak’s first local Governor, Tun Datuk Abang Openg, Abang Johari had the opportunity to see several events happen until the Union Jack flag was lowered and Sarawak achieved self-rule status.
The recording for the 45-minute episode for the second season is scheduled to air on July 21, at 9pm on TVS via Astro Channel 122 or MyTV as one of the programmes in conjunction with the Sarawak Day celebration on July 22.
