KUCHING: A total of 178 people from Long Singut in Bukit Mabong District received their vaccine jabs administered by health workers, assisted by a medic team from the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM).

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar James Jemut Masing visited Long Singut, located about 250km from Kapit town and 10km from the country’s border, on Thursday (Aug 5).

“With such assistance, the whole of Sarawak will all have at least their first dose by August 2021. We will achieve 80 per cent herd immunity by the end of this month,” stated Masing in a statement.

He added that the Chief Minister visited the most remote post in the district to understand the need for funds to build infrastructure in Bukit Mabong.

“Because of its proximity to the border with Kalimantan, a border post will be established at Long Singut.”

He said ATM and the Immigration Department had visited the site and they agreed with the need to build a border post in the area.
