CM declares open Roxy Hotel Serian

SERIAN: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg officiated at the opening ceremony of Roxy Hotel Serian, the first purpose-built hotel in Serian Division, today.

The hotel, which was completed late last year, has 54 rooms and various facilities, including a restaurant, banquet hall and ballroom.

Abang Johari and Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas were welcomed by other state dignitaries, including Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah; Education, Science and Technological Research Minister Datuk Seri Michael Manyin Jawong; Balai Ringin assemblyman Datuk Snowdan Lawan; and Muara Tuang assemblyman Datuk Idris Buang.

The ceremony kicked off with a lion dance performance followed by a ribbon-cutting, led by Abang Johari.

He then proceeded to put his signature on the inauguration plaque, and was later presented with a memento by Tecktonic & Sons managing director Lee Chin Teck.

Abang Johari would then go on to chair the State Development Coordination Committee meeting, which was also held at the hotel.

Among those at the meeting were Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri James Jemut Masing; Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan; State Secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion; Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian; Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah; Minister of Utilities Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom; and Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip.
