KUCHING: The Chinese community in Sarawak will continue to support leaders that fight for Sarawak’s right.

Illustrating the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg as a true Sarawakian leader, Sarawak Federation of Chinese Associations president Datuk Richard Wee expressed that Sarawakians, particularly the Chinese community, were fortunate to have Abang Johari as a leader who keeps fighting and protecting the rights of the people.

“We, the Chinese community, will continue to support our leaders as long as they (GPS) have the interest and heart to fight for the right things,” Wee said when met by the reporters at his residence after the chief minister visited his Chinese New Year open house on Sunday.

Giving his support to Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Wee said he was optimistic that Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) will be able to perform well in the next state election.

Asked if he has any intention to stand in the coming state election, the Chinese community leader said he was not interested in politics.
