KUCHING: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng hopes that Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg will continue to lead Sarawak to greater heights.
Wishing Abang Johari happy fourth anniversary as the sixth chief minister of Sarawak, Wee said Abang Johari had worked tirelessly since he assumed office and had put the best interest of the people uppermost in his mind.
“Abang Johari has done so much for Sarawak. He has continued the late chief minister Pehin Sri Adenan Satem’s people centric policies and continued fighting for Sarawak’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63),” he said.
Furthermore, he said Abang Johari had provided assistance to all including assisting the Chinese schools as well as various religious groups through the setting up of Unit for Other Religions (Unifor).
“He has also implemented policies in line with his vision such as promoting digitalisation, further development in the oil and gas industries as well as ensuring the welfare of the people is taken care of,” he said.
Wee said the chief minister’s policies as well as sound governance had ensured that the people’s needs were prioritised during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Therefore, we, Sarawakians, should consider we are fortunate to be led by a visionary and capable chief minister even during this difficult time of Covid-19,” he added.
