KOTA SAMARAHAN: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg had tried everything possible to patch up the broken relationship between Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) and Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB).

Muara Tuang assemblyman Datuk Idris Bujang said this in response to Abang Johari’s statement regarding his hopes for reconciliation between the parties for the good of the Chinese.

“Our Chief Minister is very sincere in getting the Chinese to work together and patch things up because the Chinese community must be represented in the GPS government in the most effective way.

“As you know the Chinese are a complex community because they have so many interests to look after within themselves which only their community knows.

“So for us Bumiputera leaders, we respect them but we want them to be part of us as part of the power sharing,” he added during a ‘Programme Khidmat Masyarakat Ibu Gemilang (i-Gems), at Meranek village in Samarahan on Sunday.

He believed that the Chinese community were intelligent people and were wise enough to know where to put their future in.

“People of Sarawak please, you know DAP has been part of a government that has been proven ineffective and PKR is disintegrating.

“You know GPS is a good choice because we believe in power sharing and all of the races are represented there. We don’t talk about racial issues.”

He also shared that he was confident GPS could win more than seventy percent of the state seats in the upcoming election.

“It is not because we are over confident but we are working hard on it and we can feel the people have confidence in us.

“Like I said GPS believes in power sharing and they are holding the flag of solidarity for the people.

“With unity, people can move on otherwise we will be like other countries which are divided and having to fight for their lives,” he added.

Also present were Kota Samarahan Municipal Council chairman Datuk Peter Minos and local community leaders.
