SIBU: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg yesterday visited Sibu Central Market. 

He arrived at the iconic market at about noon to mingle with the traders and shoppers.

He was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Assistant Minister of Education and Technological Research Dr Annuar Rapaee.

Abang Johari had breakfast at the food and drink section on the upper floor of the double-storey market.

Sibu Central Market was built in 1996 at a cost of RM12.5 million. It houses more than 1,000 traders and another 300 at its tamu section.

Spanning 18,704 square metres, it is considered one of the biggest markets in the country.
