KUCHING: The Chinese New Year Media Night will be an annual event, said the Federation of Chinese Associations Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Division president Dato Richard Wee.

He said this year Chinese New Year Media Night is taken over by the federation where previously it was organised by the Chinese community leaders.

“We have the opportunity to organise it this year and hope we can organise and install more programmes for our media practicioners,” he added in his speech at the Chinese New Year Media Night at Lido Star, Sekama in Kuching last Sunday.

Also speaking was Batu Kitang Assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang who thanked the media for their positive reporting and as accurate they could in conveying information to the public.

“It is important to deliver correct information because by a stroke of a pen you can change the perception and decision of the readers,” he pointed out.

Among the activities held were lucky draws, ‘yee sang’ tossing and singing perfomances by an international band.
