KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Road Transport Department (RTD) is using camera-installed cars and motorcycles in its patrols during the Chinese New Year (CNY) operation to facilitate recording of traffic offences by motorists.

Its director Sadim Abdul said the RTD operation during the CNY celebration would be from 8 am to midnight daily and round-the clock on Feb 5 and 6.

“We will not compromise with errant motorists,” he said during a CNY operation at the Inanam Bus Terminal here today.

He said leave for all staff at the Enforcement Division of the Sabah RTD since last Saturday until Feb 12 had been frozen and a control room had been opened to monitor the operation as well as to receive complaints from the public.

Members of the public could send their complaints through email at ​​​​​​​aduantrafik@jpj.gov.my or through WhatsApp to  0115115252.

He said since the operation was held last Saturday, the Sabah RTD had issued  792 summonses and 414 notices to motorists for various offences. – Bernama
