KUCHING: Sarawak Sukma lawn bowls coach Mohd Fairus Abang Deni is satisfied with the improvement shown by his players.

Some of the lawn bowlers who won medals.

“On average, they (lawn bowlers) have managed to put up a pretty decent showing when given the opportunity.

“In fact, they would come back with medals in the tournaments that they took part in.”

He said this augured well for the squad’s chances at the Malaysia Games (Sukma) in Kuala Lumpur from Sept 29 to Oct 8.

“So far, we have taken part in three tournaments, including the Kuala Lumpur Open in January. We were also involved in the BLK Classic Open (Triples) in Perak in February.

“I hope the players will keep this fine momentum going.

“In just a few months, the Sukma will take place and I’m confident that the bowlers will be able to perform.”

On training during the Ramadan month, Mohd Fairus said: “All athletes will train as usual…maybe it (training session) will be a little different than previous.”
