MIRI:  A man who is believed to be emotionally unstable has set a box of shoes on fire on Friday night in Jalan Parry here.

The man, who was said to be in his 40s, works as a cobbler.

Firemen from Miri fire station were rushed to the scene after responding to an emergency alert on the incident at 9.29pm.

Prior to the incident, the man was seen to have been outraged before setting fire on a wooden box where he had placed all of his clients’ shoes.

Those shoes were sent by his clients (customers) for repair.

Fortunately, swift action taken by the firemen managed to prevent the fire from spreading to a nearby commercial building.

As press time, it was not immediately known what had caused the cobbler to act in such a manner.
