MIRI: A cobra measuring about 1m was found near a stall selling banana fritters, prompting the owner to seek help from the Civil Defence Force (APM).

The snake was found slithering in the monsoon drain in Jalan Aru Holiday Park here around 2.57pm on Monday (July 25).

It was understood that the stall owner, 25, had earlier heard strange noises coming from the drain, and he went to investigate.

Shocked to see the venomous reptile in the drain, he immediately called the APM.

Four personnel were sent to the location upon receiving the call, and they arrived at about 3.15pm.

“The team managed to capture the snake in less than 10 minutes using a special tool,” said Miri APM officer Capt Usman Harto.
