KUCHING: Coffee shop owners have started to receive RM750 of the RM1,500 financial assistance under the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance (BKSS) 6.0 package, in which the monetary assistance has been channelled into their respective SarawakPay accounts.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said the assistance under BKSS 6.0 will be implemented in two phases.

“The first payment of RM750 will be given this month while the other RM750 will be given in December,” he said during the symbolic handover of the BKSS 6.0 assistance at Kenyalang Market today.

“We need to tailor the cashless process to avoid physical contact to minimise the spread of the Covid-19,” he said, stating it was the main reason why they channelled the assistance through SarawakPay.

On the other hand, Dr Sim added that they are delighted that this year alone, over 500 coffee shop owners have been included for the assistance as compared to last year.
