Coffee shop partially destroyed in fire

SIBU: A coffee shop was destroyed in a fire incident at Batu 8, Jalan Airport, on Wednesday (May 4) evening.

A distress call was received by the State Fire and Rescue Operation Centre (Bomba) at 4.40pm regarding a fire incident involving a coffee shop.

“We radioed and dispatched a team from Sungai Merah station to the coffee shop on fire.

“A report from the operation commander stated that the two-storey coffee shop, measuring 20×40 square feet, was about 70 per cent destroyed during the operation.

“The structure of the shop, at the ground level, was a coffee shop while at the top level was believed to be a living space,” it said.

The firemen were able to extinguish the fire on the structure, and the operation ended at 6.48pm. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
