Coffee table book to promote Miri launched

Date:

MIRI: A coffee table book titled “Miri Uniquely Borneo” to promote and introduce Miri City was officially launched here on Thursday (Oct 21).

Miri City Council (MCC) mayor Adam Yii, who officiated at the launch, said the book was to complement the efforts to promote the city by the state government through the Ministry of Local Government and Housing, and the Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture.

The contents of the book included urban discoveries, local parks and Marina Bay, walk with nature around the city and beyond, ethnic and cultural diversities and festivities, education and medical hubs and hidden mystery sites.

“As more restrictions on interstate travel have been lifted and overseas travel likely to resume soon, we are anticipating visitors to come in.

“Therefore, I would like to remind players in tourism and tourism-related sectors to get ready for the influx of visitors,” added Yii.

He thanked MCC’s tourism development standing committee, the working committee, Curtain University, production teams, non-governmental organisations (NGO), communities, agencies and individuals who contributed to the success of the publication.

“It is indeed a testimony of the consolidated efforts of Mirians showcasing the city’s beauty and treasure.”

He hoped that the book would bring joy to readers as well as travellers who sought to explore the hidden gems and beauty of Miri city.

The launch was held virtually at the MCC meeting chamber via Zoom application.
