MIRI: The Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) is appealing to residents who attended the funeral at Rumah Langi Pasai Siong, Sibu recently to come forward to Miri Health Office for Covid-19 swab tests.

Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin made the call after the latest positive case was recorded at Rumah Emah in Beluru which is part of the Pasai Cluster. The longhouse has to date recorded 19 positive cases out of 226 persons tested for Covid-19.

Lee, who is minister in-charge of DDMC, was informed about the situation during a meeting with committee members today.

On Jan 13, five longhouses, namely Rumah Emah, Rumah Apol, Rumah Anthony, Rumah Chabu and Rumah Justine in Beluru, Miri Division were put under lockdown due to rising positive Covid-19 cases in the district.

Meanwhile, 75 cases are still receiving treatment at Miri Hospital as of today.

On the flood situation in Miri, Lee said 22 people from three families who were evacuated to a temporary shelter at a surau in Tudan had been allowed to return home after flood water subsided.
