BAU: The Sarawak government, through the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor), has reaffirmed its commitment to developing places of worship for various religious communities in the state.

During a charity dinner at the St Teresa Avila Church here on Saturday (Oct 28), Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang emphasised the importance of providing comfort to the local community, particularly the people of Sarawak, in carrying out their religious activities.

He stated that additional requests to Unifor should be submitted promptly to ensure the smooth progress of building these places of worship.

Billy also announced that there is an outstanding application for RM670,000 to upgrade the St Teresa Avila Church.

He urged for this request to be processed quickly so that funds can be allocated for the third and fourth phases of the project.

On the same note, Billy disclosed several development plans for the Stenggang area that have been approved under the Greater Kuching Development Coordination Agency (GKCDA) initiative.
