KUCHING: Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said that she will contact the Mukah Divisional Disaster Management Committee to immediately investigate the issues raised by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Mukah regarding the Covid-19 low-risk quarantine and treatment centre (PKRC) there.

In saying this, the Dalat assemblywoman noted that the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) is very open for improvements and any complaints will be investigated.

“The SDMC is there to make sure that we do our best for the people. We will look into the issues raised and if it is true, we will rectify and improve it,” she said yesterday (Sept 28).

Fatimah noted that previously there were two PKRCs in Mukah namely Kem Belia Mukah and Dewan Politeknik Mukah.

However, the PKRC at Dewan Politeknik Mukah was closed following the decrease in number of Covid-19 positive cases.

She also gave her assurances that whenever there is increase in the number of people placed at the PKRC, another PKRC will be open to avoid any overcrowding.

“This has been done whenever the situation requires or there is an unforeseen situation.

“When the number of those quarantined at the PKRC is more than the capacity, we will look for a new place, and this is what we have done before,” she said.

PKR Mukah branch recently made several claims about the PKRC in Mukah noting that it is overcrowded with no compliance to the standard operating procedure (SOP), insufficient number of staff with inadequate equipment and poor level of hygiene among others.
