Community cluster detected in Subis

KUCHING: The State Health Department today declared one new cluster, namely, the Sungai Sengkabang, Subis cluster.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) explained that it was a community cluster  involving two longhouses placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) at Sungai Sengkabang in Ulu Sebuti, Bekenu, Subis.

“Of the 210 individuals who were screened, 58 were positive, 126 were negative while 26 are still awaiting laboratory results,” it said in a statement today.

“All positive cases were referred to the Miri Hospital and the Covid-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) in the Miri district for isolation and further treatment.

The committee also declared the end of three clusters, namely, the Jalan Dato Permaisuri cluster in Miri, the Ulu Sebakong cluster in Mukah and the Kampung Hilir Lingga cluster in Sri Aman.

The SDMC said of the 96 active clusters in the state, 11 had recorded 82 new cases.  

It added that the Simunjan district was now yellow after recording 15 new cases in the last 14 days. With that, Sarawak now has 11 yellow districts.

“The Sebauh district is now orange after recording a total of 33 cases in the last 14 days.

“Sarawak now has 25 red districts, three orange districts and only one green district,” said the committee.
