KAPIT : Kapit District Office recently held a special meeting for the local community leaders on digital economy at the conference room of the State Office Complex here.

Kapit District Officer, Elvis Didit, explained that Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg had stressed that Sarawak must embrace digitalisation and embark on the digital economy to stay ahead, thrive and prosper.

“We have to prepare ourselves. The first step is to implement the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) for the community leaders.”he said, adding the meeting was fruitful and that the Temenggong, Pemanca and Penghulu were very supportive of the implementation of the KPI.

“With the KPI in place, if there is any lacking in their performances, it can be revealed midyear to correct the shortcoming. With KPI, everything will be very clear. “In 2018, the digital economy and Upper Rajang Development Authority (URDA) will kick off.

As a District Officer, I can say we are ready for the new way,” added Elvis Responding to the very poor wireless coverage in Kapit, the District Officer said during the Divisional Action Committee Meeting (DAC), the Malaysian Comunication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) had been asked to erect more telecommunication towers in the Division.
