KUCHING: Ten community leaders from the Simanggang constituency called on Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar on Friday.

The Santubong MP said the visit was to discuss on the welfare of the local dwellers as well as minor development projects such as the expansion of drainage in Simanggang.

“We also discussed on issues such as application for state land for it to be turned into an Islamic cemetery as well as the appointment of community leaders.

“I will bring the issues to the attention of the state government for their action,” he said in a Facebook post on Friday.

Wan Junaidi who is Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Supreme Council member said the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) state government will put the interests of the people first and will take care of their welfare.

“It is my hope that the community leaders will be given the strength to perform their duties and become an intermediary between the people and the state leadership,” he said.
