SARIKEI: Community leaders need to carry out a very important task which is to channel information and government policies to the masses in addition to ensuring that the people go to the polls to carry out their responsibilities to the country.

That was clearly stated from the incumbent Tanjong Manis Member of Parliament, Ir Yusuf Abdul Wahab regarding the 15th general election (GE-15) which will be held soon.

He said for 18 to 20 year-old voters, each party should provide information so that they choose with a thoughtful mind instead of making a choice with emotion so as not to make the wrong choice.

“This is because this group is not yet mature enough in the political world.

“The people of Sarawak need to unite to move forward and not be divided just because of political differences which are very detrimental to all,” he said in a speech at the Community Randau Programme held at the Kampung Selalang Community Hall last Friday (Oct 28).

Only with political stability can the state bring more rapid development in all corners of Sarawak, he stated.

“When there is political stability and sufficient financial resources, it is the result of very good management and administration.

“The people need to ensure that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will get a big victory in GE-15 that is held soon. This is to ensure that more Sarawak rights can be defended in addition to demanding more for the prosperity of the state and the people.

“The more seats that are won, the stronger Sarawak’s voice will be in Parliament apart from being appointed in the federal Cabinet,” he emphasised.

Also present was Penghulu of Selalang Village Amir Hamzah.
