MIRI: Lutong Community Library is officially open to the public, featuring new facilities to further benefit the community, especially in terms of digital literacy.

Its soft launching took place Wednesday, officiated by Mayor Adam Yii and witnessed by his deputy Julaihi Mohamad.

“The library service is one of the components in our Miri Smart City initiative hence the renovation and improvement of this library became our priority,” said Yii.

He praised the Lutong Library Taskforce chaired by  Julaihi for their brilliant output, dedication and effort  to make this project a success.

“We must prepare ourselves in this digital era where information and data can be retrieved from the library to help improve our daily life through the application of digital technology,” he added.

Thus he hoped the establishment of the entirely new concept of community library will be the blueprint for the development of new libraries.
