KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Kongsi Rezeki Community Pantry programme organised by the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) has been lauded by Kota Samarahan MP Rubiah Wang.

According to Rubiah, the programme was an exemplary initiative to help the less fortunate affected by the Covid-19 movement control order (MCO).

She said although various assistance had been given to the people by the federal and state governments, there were still several people missing out.

“It’s a brilliant effort from all participating parties, to give out assistance on top of the various forms of assistance provided by the government.”

She said this after handing over food packs at the programme held at Farley Supermarket here today.

“Half of the population here is not included in the divisional management and administration as the increase in housing areas has caused an overflow of population.

“For example, under the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance, several people, especially in the housing areas, were excluded from receiving aid.”

During the event, Rubiah also joined MPKS chairman Datuk Peter Minos in distributing some 80 food packs to the needy here.

The Kongsi Rezeki Community Pantry is expected to benefit more than 2,000 individuals from July 4 to 12.

Those in need are to come at 3pm from now until July 12 to the selected supermarkets to receive the food packs.
