KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Community Policing Programme has played a crucial role in curbing the spread of Covid-19 and alleviating its effect among the rural community, says Samarahan Division Resident Brahim Lumpu.

He said the programme allowed community leaders and village chiefs (KMKK) to play their part in looking after the safety of their respective village.

“It is better for the community itself to be the ‘police’ in an effort to protect their area and village from any threats and dangers, including from Covid-19.”

Brahim said this at the Samarahan district-level Community Policing Programme at Dewan Stakan, Taman Samarindah here on Tuesday (Sept 28).

He added that the programme also served as an alternative to gathering the community to help address existing issues in villages.

He explained that the main purpose of organising the programme was to empower KMKKs to monitor, coordinate and supervise activities in their villages.

Brahim also called on the community’s high-risk groups to get their booster shots soon.
