KUCHING: Konsortium Bumi Consultants & Services Sdn Bhd (KBCS) has issued a statement to allay public fears and concerns about the Covid-19 situation in its office following the declaration of the Konsortium Bumi Cluster by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) on Wednesday (May 12).

The company assured that it would undertake all necessary measures for as long as necessary including keeping close contact with MOH and SDMC to report the latest developments at its business premises.

“We will be taking proactive measures to reduce the workforce at the office, sanitise the office premises every day after work, and not attend any physical meetings and gatherings during this challenging period,” it added.

The company explained that the first case involving its office was discovered on Apr 17 when one of its staff members tested positive for Covid-19.

“Following that, we adhered to the strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) from the Health Ministry (MOH) which include closing the office premises, sanitising the entire office and submitting all names of our staff and friends who were in close contact with the staff,” it said in the statement dated Wednesday.

“The last batch of positive cases related to our company was discovered on Apr 28, when another staff, his wife and children tested positive. They were asymptomatic,” it said,

The company added that as reported by SDMC, 84 persons including the family members and close friends of its staff were Covid-19 positive while 76 were negative.

“We are thankful to the healthcare frontliners who are not only taking care of our staff and their family members while in the quarantine centre but also tracking and testing all the close contacts for the past three weeks to break any possible chain,” said the company.

“As the health and safety of our staff and their family members are our top priority, we are constantly updating the numbers ourselves and to date, no further positive case has been reported in association with our company.”
