MMEA officer searches for victims' clues in Pulau Burung waters.

SEBUYAU: A company assigned to refloat the capsized MV Tung Sung cargo ship in Pulau Burung waters is currently conducting a preliminary survey at the location.

Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Sarawak director, First Admiral Zin Azman Md Yunus, said that this survey is a part of their efforts to locate the missing crew members.

However, as of 4 pm yesterday (July 24), the rescuers had not discovered any new clues, and the search had to be postponed due to unfavourable weather and rough sea conditions in the search sector.

The operation is set to resume today (July 25) at 7 am.

The MV Tung Sung, which was carrying landscaping rocks from Kuching to Sibu, encountered strong waves that caused it to capsize near Pulau Burung at around 9 pm on July 19.

Due to communication difficulties at sea, the search and rescue (SAR) operation could only be initiated on the following day, delaying immediate reporting of the incident.

Search for four crewmen postponed at 4pm due to bad weather.

A total of eight crew members, aged between 20 and 52, were onboard the ship at the time of the accident.
