KUCHING: Cahya Mata Sarawak (CMS) director and deputy group chairman Datuk Seri Mahmud Abu Bekir Taib has voluntarily taken leave of absence from all his positions in the group in order for authorities to facilitate a full and transparent investigation into allegations of conflict of interest involving him and former CMS chief information officer Karl Vink @ Khalid Abdullah.

The company’s board of directors said that it had reported to the authorities the allegations received through the group’s whistleblower channel.

“Upon receipt of the whistleblower’s complaints, before reporting to the authorities, the board acted immediately to carry out a full investigation to discharge its fiduciary duties to protect the best interest of the company and all stakeholders,” it said in a statement.

The board assured all stakeholders that it had upheld the highest standards of corporate governance expected of the board and had carried out its fiduciary duties to the best of its abilities.
