SADONG JAYA: Deputy Education Minister II Datuk Mohamad Alamin reminded all contractors appointed to work on the upgrade of dilapidated school projects in Sarawak to complete their respective projects on time as scheduled.

He stressed that the completion of these projects was crucial in solving many related issues faced by the people.

“The period to complete the project is set after the contractor is appointed and receives the letter of acceptance.

“Therefore, after it is issued, the contractor will have to complete the project within 18 to 22 months,” he told a press conference after a working visit to SK Pendam here yesterday (Oct 3).

Mohamad added the Education Ministry (MOE) was aware of a number of project delays in the state.

“In Sarawak, there was a delay among some contractors in receiving supplies of construction materials due to the implementation of the movement control order (MCO), as in other states.

“There were also some land-related issues in one state where the project has been approved but the land issues are still unresolved.

“Therefore, the MOE and I will continue to work with every state government, including Sabah and Sarawak, to find ways to facilitate the implementation of the projects,” he explained.
