MUKAH: With the Hari Raya celebrations approaching soon, the public have been urged to continue their strict compliance with the COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curb the spread of the virus.

In making this call, Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi said celebrants must make sure of a safe Hari Raya celebration.

“Please celebrate Hari Raya in a safe manner, be disciplined and comply with the SOPs set by the government,” he said as reported by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) in a news report.

He was saying this during the handover of the minor rural project (MRP) grant to respective Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) as well as representatives of mosques and surau here recently.

MRP grants worth a total of RM144,000 were distributed to 30 JKKKs and 16 mosques and surau in the Balingian constituency.

Abdul Yakub who handed over the grants said that these funds would enable the recipients to carry out activities especially during the month of Ramadan and the actual Hari Raya celebration.
