KUCHING: Police have issued two compounds to individuals for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in public places as measures to curb the Covid-19 pandemic.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the compounds were issued one each in Kota Samarahan and Miri.

“The Local Government Ministry also issued 121 notices in verbal, written and confiscation warnings, namely through Sibu Municipal Council (16), Bintulu Development Authority (53), Marudi District Council (19), Kuching North City Hall (21), Maradong and Julau District Council (eight), Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (three), and Miri City Council (one),” it said.

On SOPs compliance monitoring, patrol teams inspected 1,447 premises throughout Sarawak.

These included 298 restaurants. Others were supermarkets (179), banks (115), public markets (70), places of worship (65), hawker stalls (33), government offices (31), leisure places (47), construction sites (13), factories (5), and others (591).

SDMC also said 1,099 vehicles were inspected in six Ops Benteng roadblocks in five districts — two in Lundu with one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu.
