SIBU: Police issued compounds amounting to RM30,000 to 20 individuals for playing futsal on Thursday (Aug 12).
Sibu OCPD ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said they were found playing futsal at a futsal court in Jalan Tekam here.
The individuals were each issued a RM1,500 compound for violating SOP.
“The individuals, aged between 13 and 21, were found playing futsal by residents who then informed the police.
“Some residents saw them at the futsal court, recorded a video of them playing and sent it to the police hotline.”
ACP Stanley said the individuals breached standard operating procedures (SOP) for the National Recovery Plan.
The compounds were issued in accordance with Regulation 17 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (No. 2) 2021.
“Futsal is one of the sports banned based on the NRP SOP and the individuals were clearly explained about the offence by the police,” he said, adding that they were required to pay the compound at the Sibu Division Health Office within 14 days.
