MIRI: Karaoke, spa, wellness, foot massage and reflexology centres are now allowed to operate with conditions imposed by Miri City Council (MCC).

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has announced that the centres are allowed to operate starting today; but with full adherence to strict conditions, requirements and standard operating procedures (SOP).

Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang said operators must obtain written approval from Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) at Miri Resident’s Office before starting to operate.

The written approval should be displayed at the entrance or counter of the premises as to facilitate monitoring by authorities including MCC.

He also said operators and workers must undergo rt-PCR test. The test result should be obtained not  more than three days before operating.

“There must be compulsory health and temperature screening at the entry point of premises for all who enter including the staff, workers, their contractors or suppliers related to their operations and customers,” he said.

Customers must wear masks when entering premises. The operators need to maintain record or register using the MySejahtera application at the entry point of their premises.

Yii also stated that operators needed to provide hand washing facilities with soap and hand sanitisers at general and open areas, entrance lobby, counters and rooms.

“The operating hours for karaoke centres are from 10am to 10pm. The number of workers and customers allowed in the premises is limited to 50 percent capacity only.

“Spa, wellness, foot message and reflexology centres can operate from 10am to 10pm. Customers are required to make appointments to ensure premises capacity is limited and prevent overcrowding. Walk-in is not allowed,” he said.

The mayor also stated that operators are to prepare “Do’s” and “Don’ts” guideline for information of customers regarding precautionary measures to curb Covid-19 in the premises.

He said operators must comply with the directives from the disaster management committee as well as terms and conditions issued by the relevant authorities including MCC.

“In the event the premises is found to be visited by Covid-19 patients, the premises operator must ensure that the premises are disinfected.

“The exposed operators and workers are encouraged to take rt-PCR test and if the operator or any worker is found to be positive for Covid-19, the premises shall be disinfected and closed for 14 days,” he concluded.
