Condolences pour in for CM over loss of brother

KUCHING: State leaders offered their heartfelt condolences to the family of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg over the loss of his brother on Thursday.

Senior Minister (Infrastructure Cluster) Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof posted a tribute on his personal Facebook page.

“My condolences to Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and all family members on the passing of his late brother Abdul Rahim Tun Abang Openg. May the deceased be placed among the pious,” he said.

Similarly, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi offered his condolences.

“My prayers and thoughts are with all of you (Abang Johari’s family). May God keep you strong and united through this tough time,” he said in a Facebook post.

Plantations and Commodities Deputy Minister Datuk Willie Mongin also offered his condolences to Abang Johari and family.

“My condolences to Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and family. May the deceased be placed among the pious,” he said.

Senator Jaziri Alkaf A. Suffian in his posting said, “My most heartfelt condolences Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and family, on the passing of his brother”.

Abang Abdul Rahim, 78, the elder brother of Abang Johari died on Thursday at about 8.30pm.

According to a close family member, Abdul Rahim died of a heart attack while receiving treatment at a private medical centre here.

Abang Abdul Rahim was the second child of the first Sarawak Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Abang Openg Abang Sapiee.
