KUCHING: Residents and the business community have complained to SUPP Public Complaints Bureau chief Wilfred Yap about the traffic congestion at the T-junction of Lorong 3, Jalan Stakan in Kota Sentosa near here.

The road is heavily used as a by-pass to avoid the congestion at the Kota Sentosa commercial area during peak hours.

Yap said the matter was brought up to the attention of the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) Engineering Department and funding for the upgrading of the T-junction had been approved.

However, he said there were eight squatters on both sides of the T-junction entrance.

Before the open tender can be called by MPP, Yap together with SUPP members from the 7th Mile Sub-Branch and an officer from MPP had gone to assess the situation to ensure that there would not be any problems to the upgrading work to widen the T-junction.

Yap said he would continue to follow up and monitor the situation closely.
