SIBU: The inauguration of Kapitan Connie Loh as the new Lions Club 308-A2 district governor (DG) and installation of cabinet officers tomorrow (July 9) will bring pride to this commercial town.

Loh will be the club’s seventh district governor from this town since 1978.

The late Sibu MP Datuk Robert Lau Hoi Chew was one of them.

The event will boost the local hotels here as the Lions Club 308-A2 covers Sarawak, Sabah, the Federal Territory of Labuan, and Brunei.

Organising chairman Dixon Chiu told a press conference yesterday that over 400 delegates from these places, including Malaya, will attend the ceremony.

“The ceremony will take place on July 9 at Kingwood Hotel here. It will be a boost to the local hotel as 400 delegates will make their way here,” he said.

Chiu said that the delegates are from about 100 clubs in the region.

Past international director Datin Ellis Suriyati Omar will officiate at the ceremony.
