KUCHING: An official application for the construction of a new SK Tanjong Bako building has been submitted to the Education Ministry (MoE).

Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Abang Hipni explained that this reconstruction was needed as SK Tanjong Bako was in a dilapidated condition.

“In the Demak Laut constituency, there are only two schools which need to be rebuilt, namely SK Senari and SK Tanjong Bako.

“SK Senari is currently under construction, and today we are submitting an official application to MoE to build a new building for SK Tanjong Bako,” he said.

He added that a site near the old school had been identified for the construction of the new building for SK Tanjong Bako.

According to a post on his Facebook page today, he said this after presenting the official application for the construction of the new SK Tanjong Bako building to a representative from MoE on Monday.

Dr Hazland said the construction of the new SK Tanjong Bako building was important for the long term pertaining to the needs of its students, especially due to the increase in population.

“The Tanjong Bako area will be a rapid and extensive settlement in the future. This is due to the opening of new settlements apart from the increase in population at Kampung Tanjong Bako, Pinggan Jaya, Binyu and the Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia (LKIM) Depot.

“Thus, there is a need for a new and spacious SK Tanjong Bako building suited to the needs of locals in the future,” he said.
