KUCHING: Police raided a premises in Batu Kawah on Tuesday, seizing various brands of contraband liquor and fireworks worth about RM70,800.

The raiding party comprising members of Padawan IPD Task Force and Sarawak PGU Intelligence Unit swooped on the premises at MJC Commercial Centre around 4pm, said Padawan OCPD Supt Aidil Bolhassan in a statement yesterday.

“A total of 613 cartons and 232 bottles of duty unpaid liquor worth RM70,621, and 15 boxes of firecrackers were confiscated.”

Police also arrested a man after he failed to produce a customs declaration.

The case has been referred to Padawan district police station for further investigation under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act.
