MIRI: The General Operations Force (GOF) seized contraband cigarettes and alcoholic beverages worth more than RM320,000 in two separate raids on Monday.

According to a spokesperson of GOF, the raids were carried out by a team from the GOF 12th Battalion from 11am to 1.30pm.

The first raid was at a shop at Jalan Taman Ceria, Bandar Baru Permyjaya here. It was believed to be used as a place to sell and store the uncustomed cigarettes and alcohol beverages.

“The team inspected the shop and found 237,960 cigarette sticks, 8,736 beer cans and 336 beer bottles — all of which are valued at RM236,681.20.

The total seizure from both raids is estimated to be around RM327,628.80.
