Convenience store robbed of RM5,500

KUCHING: Another 24-hour convenience store at Yoshi Square in Pending suffered loss of RM5,500 to two armed robbers during the weekend.

In the 8pm incident, two men armed with machete and knives entered the store and demanded cash.

Kuching acting police chief, Supt Ismail Mahmood said the duo pounced on the unsuspecting cashier who was too shock to do anything apart from letting them take the money from the cash registration box.

He said after the duo fled, the cashier was too scared to see the type of vehicle used by the suspects.

Nevertheless, the CCTV from the shop has been surrendered to the police for investigation, Ismail pointed out.

In another case, a 72-year-old man from Taman Sri Wangi, Petra Jaya suffered a cut after a suspect approached him at the Satok Bridge and cut the victim’s bag. The victim tried to fight back but was cut with a pair of scissors causing him to bleed and gave up fighting. The incident occurred at 5pm on Saturday.

Police who investigated the case found a pair of scissors thrown nearby. The victim was sent to the Sarawak General Hospital for treatment. He lost RM450 and personal documents.

Ismail said the case is under investigation.
