Cooperate, get tested if you are a close contact

KUCHING: The residents of Beladin and Beting Maro are urged to cooperate with the authorities in curbing the spread of Covid-19 in the area.

Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor said the surge in cases at Kampung Beladin was worrying with the recording of more than 40 positive cases on Friday.

“This situation will worsen and become more critical if the residents do not cooperate.

“I was informed that there were close contacts with a case at the surau of Kampung Hilir Beladin who refused to undergo the Covid-19 tests on the grounds that they did not want to be quarantined.

“We appeal to them (close contacts) to immediately go to the Beladin Clinic so that their health status can be assessed,” he said on Saturday (May 8).

At the same time, the assemblyman also expressed worry that the situation might worsen if those infected moved around freely in the community.

“This is because many who work outside the village, especially fishermen, will start returning to celebrate Hari Raya.

“We also appeal to the residents to cooperate if the movement restriction or a lockdown is implemented after this.

“Only this approach can break the chain of the Covid-19,” he said, reminding residents to always adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
